Tuba

The Tuba is a brass instrument which can be pitched to the highest and to the lowest. It is a Latin word derived from trumpet or horn. The horn has the most resemblance of Baroque trump. By “buzzing” the lips or by producing the vibration into the mouthpiece, the sound can be produced. It appears first in the 19th century, replacing ophicleide. It has become one of the most important instruments of the modern symphony orchestra. Tuba is the major bass instrument in military bands. Depending upon the pitches, the tuba is classified. For low pitch, contrabass tubas are used. For next higher pitch, brass tubas are used. Tenor tuba performs one octave higher. Subcontrabass tubas are used for highest pitch, which is extremely rare.
